Tuesday, January 29, Three Young Men Found Death

Objective: By the end of class, students will read and interpret short story, answer comprehensive questions, identify irony and make real life connections.

DO NOW

--> Have you ever found money laying around anywhere? What did you do with it? Did you take it? Did you try and find the person it belonged to? What would you do?

Direct Instruction

--> Read How the Three Young Men Found Death in the Stories With A Twist book  - pages - 106-112

Guided
Identify the theme/ moral of the story and why it is ironic.  How are the old man's words ironic when he says, "i left Death under a tree  in that grove...." when he knew he left gold there?

Independent
Choose three vocabulary words and write a cohesive paragraph using them.  Be sure to use context clues.

Complete all questions on pages 113-114 - comprehensive through thinking critically. 

Exit Pass 
--> The men in the story were over-confident and greedy.  Do you agree that "GREED CORRUPTS?" Describe a time that greed has caused controversy in your life.
