LITERARY - means "concerning the content of literature." 
They use this word a lot on the Keystone. Examples:

Analyze how the author use figurative language in DAWN'S AWAKE, to communicate an idea. Use textual evidence to support your answer.

Things to consider:

  • Be specific about the idea being communicated.
  • Remember, figurative language creates an image or emphasizes a point. What does it help you see or feel? Describe that.
  • Some sentence starters that could help you may include:
    • When I read that, it helped me visualize...

Watch the following movie clips. For each one, you will write down:
1. What type of figurative language is being used
2. What image does it create or what point does it emphasize?

You will have 3 minutes for each one - this will be timed.
