MONDAY, NOVEMBER 5, PERUSUASIVE SPEECHES

OBJECTIVE: By the end of class, students will analyze a popular persuasive speech by identifying logical and emotional appeals, create a visual persuasive presentation or write an original speech suppoted by logical and emotional appeals.

What are logical appeals based on and how do you recognize if it is logical? Emotional?

Guided / Independent

1. Find a topic you feel strongly about and write a speech convincing the class to agree with you.  You must use at least three logical and two emotional appeals. For topics you can choose from, click here...or you may choose your own. I will provide guidelines on a separate piece of paper.

2. Choose a famous speech. It could be Martin, Luther King Jr, President Clinton, President Obama, etc.  I have identified a website for you that have sample famous speeches. Click here to see or you may find your own. Some famous speeches by women you can find here.http://www.famous-speeches-and-speech-topics.info/famous-speeches-by-women/index.htm Identify the logical and emotional appeals in the speech and prepare to perform the speech (or key parts of it) to the class.
