Tuesday, October 12 - Julius Caesar Characters and Connotations

Objective: By the end of class, students will analyze character and recognize word connotations in order to improve reading comprehensive skills.

DO NOW
Write this into your notebooks:

Connotation - the suggesting of an additional meaning for a word or expression, apart from its explicit meaning.

Denotation - Exact dictionary definition of the word


Persuasion (convincing someone to do something that will be beneficial to themselves and others - it has a positive connotation)
vs. 
Manipulation (convincing someone to do something for selfish reasons only - it has a negative connotation)

Discuss the major difference between persuasion and manipulation
