Thursday, October 23 - Period 6 - Everyday Use

Objective: By the end of class, students will analyze character and motive in short fiction in order to improve reading comprehensive skills.

Answer the following FOUR questions in notebooks:

  • Why does Maggie have a real smile at the end of the story? Comment on the mother’s choice at the end.
  • Why is the story titled “Everyday Use”
  •  Which daughter, do you think, should have the quilt and why? 

  • How Does Mama change from the beginning of the story compared to the end? What in her actual character changes?
