Monday, September 21 - LTTS

Objective: By the end of class, students will analyze character and motive in order to improve reading comprehension

DO NOW

If you were Mary, and the if the murder was an accident, what would you have done?

Direct Instruction

Review answers to constructed response from Friday and review 3 types of irony.

View conclusion of LTTS.

Guided / Independent

1. Do you think Mary committed a crime of passion, is insane, or is a cold-blooded killer that premeditated the whole murder? Use the handout and find evidence for each one from the text.  This means find an exact quote that supports each one.

2. Now choose ONE that you believe to be true. Pretend you are either Mary's defense attorney or you are the prosecuter trying to convict Mary of cold-blooded murder. You are giving your closing argument to the jury. Use the evidence from the text to support your argument! Either use a NEO or write on the back of the handout.
