Monday, October 18 - Elements of Persuasion

Objective: By the end of class, students will analyze speeches to identify elements of persuasion in order to improve reading comprehensive skills.

DO NOW

PERSUASION:
Persuasion is the action of convincing someone to do or believe something.

Then on a paper provided:
Consider, how do you convince someone of something? How do you "get your way"? Do you rely more on facts or do you use emotions? Provide an example of when you convinced your parent or guardian to give you what you wanted.

Focus on Logical and then LOGICAL FALLACIES. A FALLACY is a a mistaken belief, especially one based on unsound argument.
