Thursday, April 17 - Sounds of Poetry and Keystone Prep

Objective: By the end of class, students will practice recognition of Keystone terms, and analyze the sounds of poetry in order to prepare for Keystone exam and improve vocabulary.

Direct Instruction

Read page 229 together in soft holt reader. Determine which terms need to make THE WALL.

Guided

CHOOSE TWO OF THE THREE FOLLOWING POEMS:

1. Out-Out by Robert Frost
2. Spring is like a perhaps hand by E. E. Cummings
3. Bailando by Pat Mora

For BOTH poems that you choose, complete page 234 in soft holt reader. be sure to read all directions first.

Exit Pass _IMPORTANT!!!

Analyze how the author of the poem uses sound to add more meaning to the poem and help the reader understand what he is trying to say.
