This strategy helps students understand that a text might present a main idea and details; a cause and then its effects; and/or different views of a topic, or if informational, headings, graphics and/or charts and other features may be used.

Then read title and the multiple choice questions for Hurricane Sandy article on page212 and 216. Hand out 'Informational Text Features" sheet as a guide.
Independent
Read Hurricane Sandy article.
Answer multiple choice questions. You must provide reasoning for your answers.
Go back to your "Do Now" to complete if /when done with text structure assignment.
