Monday, February 9 - Student Learning Objective Diagnostic

OBJECTIVE : by the end of class, students will analyze persuasive speech and answer constructed response as a diagnostic assessment in order to determine reading comprehension and writing skills prior to English 2 for SLO.

DO NOW
Write these two definitions in your notebook:

The word OBJECTIVE has two meanings:

1. Goal ( as in the "objective of class today is...")

2. Not biased ; not  influenced by personal feelings or opinions in considering and representing facts (as in "the judge is trying to look at the evidence objectively to determine guilt or innocence)

Direct Instruction

Review finding main idea and review sidebars to In the Shadow of Man."

Collect soft holt readers to check for homework completed.

Guided

Handout JFK speech and provide directions for SLO / constructed response.


Independent

Read speech and answer constructed response question to the best of your ability.

REVIEW how to Analyze compared to summarize. Read short informational passage and write analysis using the graphic organizer provided. If you do not complete this in class, you may complete it for homework.

Closure

Check your own notebooks and check walls to ensure that you have all new Keystone terminology words in your notebook. If not, copy them now!
