Objective: By the end of class, students will understand the difference between summarize, analyze and evaluate and identify and analyze main idea of informational text in order to improve written communication skills and reading comprehension.
DO NOW
Write the definitions of the following into your notebooks:
1. SUMMARIZE
Give a brief statement of the main points of (something). Include simply who, what, when, where, why (avoid details).
2. Analyze
Examine information in detail in order to explain clearly. Break it down, pick it apart and refer back to the text by using a quote to support your explaination.
3. EVALUATE
Form an idea about the value of something. When you evaluate, basically analyze and then add your opinion.
