Thursday, January 31st, Current Event Summaries / Predictions

Objective:By the end of class, students will be able to analyze non-fiction, make predictions and use laptops to create summaries and visual collages for choice board topics.


DO NOW

What are the top three sources that you use to get find out what is going on in the world? What subject matter interests you most? Why?


DIRECT INSTRUCTION

We read, summarized  and predicted for fiction with ambiguious endings, non-fiction unsolved mysteries and now we will d othe same for current events.

Go to my blog - reinaeng2.blogspot.com. 

From either the CNN OR USA TODAY websites, choose an article. On powerpoint, create ONLY TWO slides:

1. Summarize the article (who, what, when , where, why).

     a. Make a prediction - what might happen next? What are possible long term effects of   what happened?
    b. Why did you choose this article?

2. Create a visual for your article. Use photos, images, symbols and text to support your summary and prediction.
