Tuesday, October 7, Macbeth Act 3 and foreshadowing



Objective: By the end of class, students will continue to read and analyze Macbeth with a focus on developing  writing and literacy skills in order to prepare for keystones and make real life connections

DO NOW

Write a sentence for each of the following vocabulary words using context clues on the paper provided and then write definitions into notebooks:

1. Scorn the feeling or belief that someone or something is worthless or despicable; contempt.

2. Foil -prevent (something considered wrong or undesirable) from succeeding.

3. Apparition a ghost or ghostlike image of a person.

Constructed responses:

1. Analyze the shifts in behavior of Lady Macbeth and Macbeth. Do you think there is more of a feminine side to lady macbeth than she  cares to admit?

2. Although Macduff does not speak in this ACT, we learn a lot about him. Analyze his behavior at the end of Act 3, scene 6. What does his behavior foreshadow (what is going to happen next)? 

3. Macbeth respects his wife. Find an example of this in Act 3 / scene 4.
