Wednesday, Feb 5 - Seniors - Fieldwork Paper

Objective: By the end of class, students will write a draft of the fieldwork paper in order to satisfy the community service writing section of the senior project.
  • Style:
    • CC.1.4.9–10.K:
      • Write with an awareness of the stylistic aspects of composition.  
  • Conventions of Language:
    • CC.1.4.9–10.L:
    • Demonstrate a grade-appropriate command of the conventions of standard English grammar, usage, capitalization, punctuation, and spelling.
Direct Instruction

Review community service hour requirements. 

  • 30 hours directly connected with your shop. Shop teacher must sign off on the specific tasks you completed to earn these hours. 
  • 30 hours outside of your shop. These hours can be completed outside of school such as in your neighborhood, church, etc or within Randolph
    • If outside hours are within Randolph:
    • You must have them approved prior to expecting to earn credit for them! For example, if you are assisting a teacher with filing, organizing or cleaning, that teacher must approve the tasks first and log hours. The teacher must then sign the community service log hours sheet.
The one page, double-spaced fieldwork paper is reflective of the total community service hours that you complete.

Review the rubric for the fieldwork paper.

Distribute the sentence starter sheet as a guide.

Review community service "quotes" from which to choose to start the paper.
