Wednesday, May 24 - RESUMES

Objective: By the end of class, students will have a draft of a professional resume in order to prepare to gain employment.

DO NOW

USE resume graphic organizer to brainstorm and get information on paper before transferring to the resume template.

OBJECTIVE
EDUCATION
EXPERIENCE  (includes volunteer, community service, etc)
SKILLS (computer skills, shop skills, communication skills, etc)
AWARDS or EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

As a High School Student, put education first before experience. Be sure to highlight your shop area under education. 

Experience can include volunteer positions, special projects and of course, any employment.

When describing experience, bullet point responsibilities and skills that you have to perform that responsibility. Use resume ACTION verbs.

Try not to be too "wordy";  be short and concise and be very careful with spelling and grammar.

HEADLINES = 14 point type
Name of school, companies, etc - 12 point 
bullet point Copy = 11 point type
