Monday, December 19 - Persuasive Essay Conclusion
Objective: By the end of class, students will complete their persuasive essays in order to improve their writing skills.
DO NOW
Get chrome book and continue to work on persuasive essay. Be sure that you have one quote (from a source that you referenced by using EASYBIB.COM) in each of your body paragraphs. Remember, one body paragraph focuses on emotional appeal and the other, logical appeal. After the quote in the paragraph, put the title of the source, or the author's last name (if there is one), after it in parentheses ().
Direct Instruction
In your conclusion, restate your position and address the opposing argument. This means you should show the reader that you are aware that another viewpoint exists, but yours is better or "right."
Example of a conclusion for my essay that suggested social media causes isolation:
With the expansion of social media as a form of information and communication, it is easy for an individual lacking interpersonal skills to isolate themselves. Some may argue that this is not true; that social media can help connect one with past friends or enable them to meet new people that have similar interests. Although this may be true, rarely, does the individual extend these relationships beyond the computer and meet with them face-to -face. Human interaction is necessary to build healthy relationships and the excessive use of social media inhibits and interferes with these possibilities.
