Objective: By the end of class, students will analyze active reading strategies in order to improve reading comprehensive skills.

DO NOW

Write down the definitions in your notebooks:

SUMMARIZE - who, what, when, where, why. Do not include many details in a summary. Also, do not include any quotations from the text.

ANALYZE - to break down and examine carefully.When analyzing, it is important to use supporting details and quotations from the text.

DIRECT / GUIDED / INDEPENDENT

DIAGNOSTIC READING ASSESSMENT:

COMPLETE READING THE PASSAGE ON PAGE 52 AND COMPLETING MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTIONS11-21.

Scan the questions first and look for the answers as you read. Many of the questions indicate what lines you should examine to find the answers so be sure to focus  on that and ANNOTATE as you read!

You may write on the passage and answer the questions in the booklet.

Then, SUMMARIZE the article in 5-7 sentences ( who, what, when, where, why, how)
